Walters Gardens offers the new Hemerocallis Earlybird Cardinal, which produces 4-inch wide, watermelon red flowers with a pie crust edge and chartreuse throat. It is documented to produce six or more fans per season, compared to 2-3 fans produced on an average daylily. It also tends to produce more than one flower scape per fan, so the plants quickly grow to form a highly floriferous, robust clump.
