The Senate Agriculture Committee is beginning action on the 2012 Farm Bill. And as the Senate moves forward, the House will also begin its considerations of programs that are critically important to the specialty crops industry – including floriculture and nursery, according to the Society of American Florists (SAF).
The 2008 Farm Bill made historic strides in creating programs for our industry – in research, fighting invasive plant pests and diseases, and innovative programs for marketing and increasing the competitiveness of our products.
Specialty crops are a critical and growing part of U.S. agriculture – and deserve full and equal consideration as other agricultural sectors in the new bill.
SAF is urging growres to take a minute to write to their congressmen and senators, urging them to support the specialty crop provisions of the new Farm Bill.
Go to www.safnow.org and click on “Write to Congress” on the right-hand side of the page for a pre-written letter that you can edit or just send verbatim.
