WNLA Field Day set for Aug. 3

The Wisconsin Nursery and Landscape Association's 2017 event will take place at McKay Nursery.

The 2017 Summer Field Day and Trade Show for nursery and landscape industry professionals, presented by the Wisconsin Nursery and Landscape Association, will be hosted by McKay Nursery, the state’s largest nursery operation. McKay Nursery, celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, is located in Waterloo, Wisconsin—just northeast of Madison. The event is on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will include tours of the nursery, the first nursery in the U.S. to be SANC-certified

SANC stands for Systems Approach to Nursery Certification and refers to the method of certifying the nursery to ship plants out of state as pest-free, based on how they produce the plants, rather than how the plants look to state nursery inspectors at the time of inspection. Tours of McKay Nursery at the WNLA Summer Field Day will take place in the morning and will include information about the detailed process of SANC with stops at their propagation area, the Langer Tree Farm to see their state-of-the-art drip irrigation system, and their container production area.

A trade show featuring more than 80 exhibitors will be another highlight of the day, featuring the newest plants, supplies, and equipment. Day-of-Show specials will be offered by many of the exhibitors and most will be donating some of their wares to the annual WNLA Scholarship, Education, and Research Fund Auction, a fundraiser for WNLA scholarships, educational programs, and research projects.

This year, lunch will be offered by food trucks located onsite. Vendors’ booths will surround a large tent with plenty of tables and chairs that is anchored by four food trucks:  Doyle’s Dogs, Patty Wagon, Cali Fresh, and SoHo Gourmet Cuisine.

The admission fee to the WNLA Summer Field Day & Trade Show is $20 for those who pre-register, $25 for those who register onsite, and $15 for students. In addition to the discounted rate, those who pre-register also have the advantage of being able to move through registration quickly, simply picking up their name tags before enjoying the show. The admission fee does not include lunch.
