Van Belle Youngplants is launching their newest input product–the RL50, designed for one or two-gallon programs. The British Columbia-based team crossed the border to launch the RL50 to the industry at Cultivate’21.
Complementing their jumbo RocketLiners, the RL50 features the same rooting and finishing qualities, but in a smaller 50mm size tailored to growers of one-gallon programs or those in warmer regions of North America.
Account manager Bill Heinrichs says the addition was a response to customer requests.
“As we’re growing more Southern genetics, they don’t need a big plug in the South,” he says. “This is the size they’re going to go to. It can finish a two-gallon in about eight weeks.”
Van Belle vice president DeVonne Friesen adds that this move has been in the making for four years, while the team incorporated what it learned developing the RocketLiner.
“Our growing team did a lot of trials and created our own tray system to get the right kind of rooting,” he says.
“We didn’t want to make a small plug that’s just like the competitors. We put a lot of research and energy into developing this plug and and we believe it will outperform other similar sized liners on the market.”
Exclusive Bloomin' Easy varieties as well as non-branded genetics from Van Belle Youngplants will now be available in the RL50 size.
RL50 benefits growers with features such as:
● Robust root systems
● Shorter inventory cycles
● FloGo Pot-Less Shipping System
