ATHENS, GA. – The 34th annual Public Open House at the UGA Trial Gardens will take place Saturday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Public Open House is an event for people of all ages and everyone is invited.
Earlier this year we used a soil steamer to reduce plant pathogens and weeds in the garden beds. Because of this research our plants are showier and we have significantly fewer weeds. In addition, our roses are fantastic this year due to the care given by Karen Radde, our resident rose expert. With more than 1,000 varieties of plants in the garden, a floral show is guaranteed.
Dr. Ruter, the Director of the Trial Gardens and Endowed Professor of Horticulture at UGA, will be there to lead tours of the Garden. His latest book, Landscaping with Conifers and Ginkgo for the Southeast, will be for sale ($30). A $5 optional donation is requested upon entry to help sustain the gardens. *Cash or checks made out to UGA*
School is out for the summer and parking is available at the McPhaul Parking lot across from the Stegeman Coliseum. For more information about the Open House, parking, and/or directions, please email: trial-gardens@uga.edu.
