Two new introductions represented by Plantipp were awarded Best Plant at IPM Essen 2024: Pyracantha coccinea 'Orange Star' PBR, the world’s first thorn-free Pyracantha, and Mangave Mad about Mangave 'Praying Hands' PBR, the latest addition to the Mad about Mangave series.
Innovative strength: Mad about Mangave 'Praying Hands'
This year, the Mangave Mad about Mangave 'Praying Hands' from Cactusmania di Manera Bruno in Ventimiglia, Italy, received a special jury prize. The jury recognizes it as a plant of the future that showcases innovation in ornamental plant cultivation. This Mangave is a cross between Manfreda and Agave, with climate tolerance, stunning foliage with intriguing markings and an unusual growth habit.
IPM Novelty 2024: Pyracantha coccinea ‘Orange Star’
The jury has selected Hoogeveen Plants from the Netherlands as the recipient of the "IPM Novelty 2024" award in the woody shrubs category. This evergreen shrub is drought resistant and highly resistant to disease. 'Orange Star' is the world’s first fully thorn-free Pyracantha, boasting an abundance of large, orange berries that remain on the plant for an extended period.
