Terra Nova Nurseries donates plants to charity

Terra Nova Nurseries, Canby, Ore., donated 2,500 perennials to the International Rose Test Garden, a public garden in Portland, Ore., which features thousands of roses from around the world. The 9,000 square-foot bed is located near the entrance of the garden.
Dan Heims, president and co-founder of Terra Nova Nurseries, was recently featured on GardenTime TV for the company’s donation. The episode focused on the plants selected by Terra Nova Nurseries for the perennial bed as well as the overall concept behind the donation. Terra Nova Nurseries not only wanted to provide the public garden with perennials to beautify the empty space, but also wanted to conduct a true test of how the plants will perform under natural conditions. “We wanted to showcase perennials, shrubs and roses mixed. The plants Terra Nova Nurseries donated has created a fantastic display for homeowners to observe what they can do in their own landscapes and gardens,” said Harry Landers, the botanic specialist for the International Rose Test Garden. “The gardens are beginning to fill in, and people are now stopping to take pictures and really examine the plants. We also plan to have all the plants labeled with our custom-welded, permanent garden markers very soon.”
