From the Contra Costa Times:
WATSONVILLE, Calif. -- Stanley Everett "Stan" Iversen, president of innovative Suncrest Nurseries, died Saturday. He was 80.
A Los Gatos resident, he was a native of Covina. But he dedicated much of the past two decades to creating a successful business from the remnants of an historic but bankrupt nursery on Casserly Road.
The mood was a "bit somber" Tuesday at Suncrest said Nevin Smith, director of horticulture.
"He was an extremely bright guy, of course, and just a really even-handed person," Smith said. "He was definitely loved in all quarters."
When he wanted to add new plants or try out a new growing method or when nursery manager Jim Marshall pitched an idea to recapture and reuse irrigation water, Iversen listened, Smith said.
"Stan was supportive of all that," he said. "He was somebody people could come to any time, any day with problems and ideas and he would patiently hear them out."
