The head of the U.S. Department of Agriculture visited Arizona last week meeting local farmers and agriculture officials.
USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue visited Francis Roses, one of the largest bareroot rose producers in the world. Francis Roses grows thousands of varieties each year, including the award-winning Miracle on the Hudson. Perdue toured Francis Roses' Litchfield Park, Ariz., operation last Thursday.
It was the second stop on a tour that started in Mesa, Ariz., where Perdue met with Arizona Department of Agriculture officials. There Perdue participated in a roundtable discussion about Arizona’s growers.
