Nursery Management, Southern Nursery Association and the Gulf States Horticultural Expo are presenting a state of the industry roundtable Jan. 18, 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Arthur R. Outlaw Convention Center, Room 204B.
The session asks, "How do we grow from here?"
Since 2007, the green industry has experienced great change. In fact, it is the most drastic changes our industry has seen in modern decades. Industry sales have been adversely affected by the lack of new construction and a reluctant-to-buy consumer. And yet we know our products can be a positive catalyst for many of today's challenges. Our products increase property values, improve occupancy rates, help reduce energy bills, address critical environmental issues, and provide an oasis from the pressures of everyday stress... right in our backyards.
Our industry has typically benefited at retail during recessionary times, but this has been an exception. Today, promoting renovation can greatly impact both retail and landscape. Southern Nursery Association (SNA), Gulf States Horticultural Expo (GSHE), and Nursery Management Magazine will host this special forum to come together and map out ideas of how we can inspire and motivate the consumer to utilize more of our products and services.
This unique event, moderated by Todd Davis of Nursery Management and SNA's Danny Summers, will begin with an overview of the "2011 State of the Industry Report," produced by Nursery Management. Next, participants will engage in a roundtable "brainstorming" session to identify key industry issues and areas of opportunity. Finally, a panel will discuss the opportunities identified and suggest steps to propel the ideas into action. The session will conclude with a Q & A.
We are a part of a great industry and we need the collective efforts of our industry to address key issues and to build business opportunities to increase profitability here in the southeast region. All industry members are invited to attend. No registration required.
