On August 18, the DHS proposed to withdraw the “Social Security No-Match” rule that was promulgated during the Bush Administration as an immigration enforcement tool. ANLA was a co-plaintiff in litigation that successfully blocked implementation of the rule. The Obama administration has concluded that there are more effective ways to pursue employment-based immigration enforcement. “We applaud DHS’ action. The no-match rule was a blunt instrument, much like performing brain surgery with a garden implement,” said Craig Regelbrugge, ANLA’s vice president for government relations. Comments can be submitted to DHS through September 18.
