Pleasant View Gardens offers combo calculator

Problem: Spending too much time figuring out the number of liners and trays needed to create combination planters.

Solution: Create an easy-to-use tool that calculates orders for the grower.

Details: The combination calculator from Pleasant View Gardens in Loudon, N.H., was designed to help growers create their own combos and help determine the number of liners and trays needed.

The calculator is an online tool that allows growers to search through combos based on type of container, season and exposure. The calculator is available at Pleasant View’s Web site, www.pwpvg.com.

Growers receive a planting diagram, container size and numbers of each variety needed. The user selects the number of combos needed and the calculator determines the amount of trays to order.

Because it’s an online tool, the information is continuously updated.

“We use this tool ourselves, and our customers can benefit from it, as well,” said Heather Poire, PVG’s territory account manager.

Before spring, Pleasant View Gardens plans to add the ability to save orders as an Excel spreadsheet. PVG also plans to eventually allow users to modify combinations.
