Sales (measured in wholesale value) of herbaceous perennials totaled $409 million in 2010, up from $392,847 in 2099, according to the USDA Floriculture Crops Summary.
Foliage sales were up just a hair -- $498 million in 2010 vs. $493 million in 2009. Sales of hardy garden mums totaled $116 million, up from $110 million in 2009. Hosta sales were $27 million in 2010, down from $34 million in 2009.
The 15 reporting states are: CA, FL, IL, MD, MI, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, SC, TX and WA.
