OHP is proud to announce the introduction of Applause Ovicide/Miticide to its portfolio of new tools and proven solutions for the production ornamentals market, according to a press release.
With one application, Applause (clofentezine) provides long-term control of eggs and immature stages of two-spotted spider mites and other mites such as Pacific, European red and yellow spider mites.
When used as part of a mite control strategy, Applause offers 30 days and beyond of prevention and control. Applause has demonstrated excellent plant safety making it an ideal tool for greenhouse and nursery growers, according to the release.
“We’re very excited to bring Applause to the ornamentals market,” said Dan Stahl, OHP vice president and general manager. “It is a great fit with our other miticides such as Shuttle O, Floramite and Sirocco.”
As an effective ovicide, Applause should be used early in the cycle as the first product of a miticide rotation program. OHP recommends Applause be applied at the first signs of spider mites or egg-laying activity, or when conditions favor quick reproduction, to prevent outbreaks in affected crops, said OHP Technical Services Manager Dr. Carlos Bográn.
A suspension concentrate formulation, Applause carries a 12-hour Restricted Entry Interval (REI) and CAUTION signal word.
