NYC hosts National Gardening Month festivities

New York City will host a public celebration of National Gardening Month, April 26 in Union Square Park, South Plaza. NYC Grows Garden Festival is a joint effort of the National Gardening Association and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation.

The free event is being sponsored by Target and will feature family-friendly activities and garden demonstrations. Program details are available online at www.nycgrows.org.

“The Big Apple is fast becoming ‘flower city,’ with more parks, gardens and trees in bloom than at any time in the city’s history,” said Adrian Benepe, NYC parks and recreation commissioner. “We are excited to team up with the National Gardening Association once again to present the third annual NYC Grows Garden Festival, the culminating event of NGA’s National Garden Month and New York City’s month-long gardening celebration.”
