From NPR:
A team of botanists has discovered a new species of carnivorous plant in Southeastern Brazil — after finding it in a photo posted on Facebook.
Brazilian botanist Paolo Gonella was scrolling through his social media feeds last year when he saw a photo of a strange plant that a colleague had taken while hiking on a mountain in Southeastern Brazil. He had never seen anything like the plant before and went to the site a few months later to investigate.
Gonella and his team took specimens, confirmed the new species of carnivorous plant and named it the "Magnificent Sundew." The newly classified plant is able to feed on flying insects with the use of sticky, brightly colored tentacles.
