EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Hortica Insurance & Employee Benefits, a niche specific mutual insurance company serving horticultural businesses across the U.S., is celebrating its history of 125 years in business. Founded on June 1, 1887 and initially named “Florists’ Hail Association of America,” Hortica has evolved into a comprehensive insurance company that guides and provides solutions for retail florists, garden centers, nurseries, landscape contractors, greenhouse growers, wholesale floral distributors and interior plantscapers.
“Viewing customers as partners has contributed to our success over the past 125 years. We enjoy lasting relationships with many of our insureds – in fact 25 percent of our customers have been with us for over 25 years. We will continue to expand our specialized services to the green industry. Our goal is not to be the most profitable insurance company. Rather, our goal is to pass on a strong and secure company to the next generation of management and policyholders,” said Mona Haberer, Hortica’s president.
Hortica is celebrating their 125th anniversary with several events during the month of June at their corporate headquarters in Edwardsville, Illinois.
