Editor's note: We're revisiting the varieties featured in our 2017 New Plant Pavilion. See the entire list here.
Coreopsis verticillata ‘Crazy Cayenne’ PPAF – SIZZLE & SPICE™ Series
Add some sizzle to your garden with the fiery sunset orange blooms of ‘Crazy Cayenne.’ This orange threadleaf coreopsis boasts a vibrant floral performance from early to late summer, all on a perfectly rounded mound of foliage. Far removed from the rangy habit of older cultivars, this hybrid maintains a compact nature, rising only 15-18” tall.
Dianthus FRUIT PUNCH® ‘Cherry Vanilla’ PPAF
There are only a few plants that can stop you in your tracks as you walk by, and this sparkling new Dianthus in the FRUIT PUNCH® series is one of them! Fully double, carnation-like flowers are deep red with a contrasting light pink picotee edge. The sweetly scented flowers adorn an impeccable habit of narrow, blue-green foliage. Add ‘Cherry Vanilla’ to your garden for a splash of flavor in early summer.
Dianthus ‘Paint the Town Fuchsia’ PPAF
Need a dianthus that performs in your hot, humid summers? The new single dianthus from Proven Winners delivers both performance and beauty with its single vibrant, fuchsia pink flowers. The added bonus is once it’s finished blooming, its blue-green foliage will take center stage as a beautiful groundcover.
Heuchera PRIMO™ ‘Black Pearl’ PPAF
The new standard in black Heuchera. ‘Black Pearl’ outshines the rest with its incredibly dark, jet black foliage and ruffled, scalloped leaves. It has been selected as the Proven Winners Perennial of the Year for 2018, so get your orders in now.
Heuchera DOLCE® ‘Silver Gumdrop’ PPAF
Break out of the ordinary greens of the shade garden with impressive, truly silver leaves. A complete package plant, ‘Silver Gumdrop’ offers both superior foliage as well as floral performance. This perennial emerges with true silver leaves that acquire a rosy blush as they age. If the foliage is not enough for ‘Silver Gumdrop’ to distinguish itself against the typical green of a shade garden, the vibrant pink flowers that appear in early summer will certainly makes its presence known.
Heucherella ‘Catching Fire’ PPAF
Set the shade ablaze with ‘Catching Fire.’ Slightly rounded, bright lime green foliage stays nice all summer. Cherry red markings flare out from the center of the leaves, darkening to mahogany with age. The best coloration comes in filtered sun or afternoon shade. Thanks to its Heuchera villosa parentage, ‘Catching Fire’ displays better heat tolerance and vigor than its counterparts who were bred without.
Lagerstroemia ‘Spiced Plum’ PPAF - BARISTA™ Collection
An exciting new color for the recently created BARISTA™ Collection. Raspberry purple flowers burst forth from rosy red buds to cover the dark green foliage in late summer. Its compact, rounded habit looks great even when it is not in flower.
Mangave ‘Moonglow’ PPAF - MAD ABOUT MANGAVE™ Collection
A unique new succulent to add to the trend. Mangave is a cross between Agave and Manfreda, and the traits of ‘Moonglow’ show the best of both worlds. Silvery blue-green leaves practically glow, just like the moon at night. Huge, contrasting spots color the rest of the long, rigid leaves. A must have.
Phlox ‘Cloudburst’ PPAF
A plant truly unlike any other, ‘Cloudburst’ breaks the mold of most every Hybrid Phlox we have seen to date. Caught somewhere between a Cushion and Tall Garden Phlox, the lavender purple flowers on ‘Cloudburst’ cascade down a dome-like habit nearly all the way to the ground. The mounding habit stands about 28” tall with broad, glossy dark green leaves. As an interspecific cultivar, ‘Cloudburst’ displays excellent disease resistance, particularly when compared to older varieties of Tall Garden Phlox.
Veronica MAGIC SHOW® ‘Pink Potion’ PPAF
The improved pink-flowering speedwell in the MAGIC SHOW® Collection, ‘Pink Potion’ produces a full, rounded habit of baby pink flowers that totally cover the lush, dark green foliage.
