The latest webinar in the Western Nursery & Landscape Association's New Plants Education Series takes place from noon to 1 p.m. on Sept. 7. The featured speaker is Ryan Contreras, associate professor of ornamental plant breeding at Oregon State University's Department of Horticulture.

Contreras will discuss several breeding projects underway at Oregon State including some overall goals of the program. He will briefly describe methods, and plants that are coming down the pike.  Learn about disease resistant cotoneasters, katsuratrees with new trait combinations, mockorange with mind blowing fragrance, a new take on oriental arborvitae, and more. His talk will be a sneak peek at plants before they are widely available, including selections offered for testing at your nursery.
