National Garden Bureau receives America in Bloom Spirit Award

Group recognized for improving the environment and quality of life.

Columbus, Ohio — The National Garden Bureau has been awarded the “America in Bloom Spirit Award.”

The award recognizes organizations whose missions and activities are consistent and complementary to the goals of America in Bloom. AIB promotes nationwide beautification through education and community involvement by encouraging the use of flowers, plants, trees and other environmental and lifestyle enhancements. The National Garden Bureau’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the increased use of seeds and plants.

“We are honored to be recognized by America in Bloom for our commitment to gardening,” said Diane Blazek, NGB Executive Director. “Just like AIB, NGB knows the value that plants bring to the environment, to beautifying communities, and to improving human health and well-being.”

The award will be presented in September during AIB’s annual conference in Orlando, Fla. The AIB symposium and awards event is an educational program developed specifically for communities to help them succeed in their efforts at improving quality of life. AIB will also celebrate and recognize the great things communities are doing to plant pride in America.

At the 2013 event, awards will be presented in five different areas: outstanding achievement, population category awards, John R. Holmes III Community Champion Award, Special Awards and the YouTube Video Award. The conference is open for anyone to attend, and information is available at www.americainbloom.org.
