Monrovia partners with globe trekking plantsman Dan Hinkley

Dan Hinkley, founder of Heronswood Nursery, was tapped as Monrovia’s No. 1 sleuth. He’s charged with finding “exciting plant varieties” for the Azusa, Calif.-based grower that can be propagated in large quantities.

“Hinkely’s vast experience and wealth of knowledge will be a tremendous asset and help us maintain our leadership in [introducing interesting new varieties],” said Nicholas Staddon, Monrovia’s director of new plants.

Monrovia plans to tap Hinkley’s expertise, including his take on unusual and underappreciated plants, the importance of foliage and texture in the garden, drought-tolerant plants and xeric garden design.
