The next webinar in the Massachusetts Nursery & Landscape Association's 2021 Virtual Forum takes place at 11:30 a.m. EST March 30. "Dealing with Invasive Plants: What to Know and What to Watch Out For" was rescheduled from February. The speaker is Jennifer Forman Orth, Ph.D., Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources.
There are currently 140 non-native plant species prohibited from sale in Massachusetts. This presentation will cover the origin of Massachusetts’ Prohibited Plant List, how to manage several well-known invasive plants, and will also profile several high-priority invasive plants that nursery owners and landscapers need to be on the lookout for.
Jennifer Forman Orth is an Environmental Biologist for the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, where she works on a number of botanical and entomological issues, including invasive plants, plant resources for pollinators, insect pests, and mosquito control. Jennifer completed her Ph.D. at UMass Boston, where she studied the odd breeding system of Japanese knotweed. She also has a master’s degree from Boston University’s Center for Energy and Environmental Studies.
These hour and a half in-depth sessions include live Q&A with the speakers, community networking, and a full year to rewatch the webinar wherever and whenever you want. There is 1 MCH credit available per webinar. Live participation is mandatory to receive pesticide credits.
Registration is $25 for MNLA members and $35 for non-members.
