The Rutgers University NJAES Office of Continuing Professional Education (OCPE) and The Bilingual Group announced TRAIN YOUR WORKFORCE: English and Spanish for the Green Industry in New Jersey. The program is designed to build language skills of the workforce in the industry in New Jersey.
This program is brought to companies by a grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development Office of Grants Operations. The program will work closely with companies to hold training workshops at the company’s site and/or locations that are accessible to their employees.
“Like all good local businesses, contractors and nurseries need employees with good customer service skills and good technical skills. This project helps green businesses grow better landscapers by cultivating more talented workers.” said Jim Morris associate director, office of continuing professional education at Rutgers University.
“We are thrilled that for the first time in New Jersey, landscape companies and nurseries will be able to hold language training at their company sites or accessible locations for their employees,” said Edward Correa, managing director of The Bilingual Group. “Building the language skills of our workforce increases professionalism, improves safety at the work place, and raises the profile of the Green Industry in New Jersey.” added Correa.
This program is available to companies doing business in New Jersey who pay employees using W2s and who have no outstanding tax liability to the State of New Jersey. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the 16 hours of language training.
