Irrigation Association starts nursery interest group

The Irrigation Association started a new common interest group (CIG) in April to provide a platform for nursery and floriculture stakeholders to discuss issues.

This CIG is the IA’s eighth and is comprised of industry leaders who meet regularly to define best practices for effective water management, establish benchmarks and guidelines for irrigation practices and promote effective irrigation technology.

“The nursery and floriculture industries represent a total of 500,000 acres of plant production and approximately $9.5 billion in annual sales,” said Andy Smith, Irrigation Association external affairs director. “The new CIG recognizes the importance of these growers in the water management debate and provides a forum to define and promote irrigation best practices and provide training.”

The CIG met in April for the first time to develop strategies and formalize leadership.
