Fourth quarter results from Home Depot and Lowe’s are an improvement over the same quarter a year ago.
Home Depot’s 4Q sales were $15.1 billion, a 3.8 percent increase from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009. Net earnings were $587 million, up from $301 million a year ago.
Lowe’s realized net earnings of $285 million for the quarter ended Jan. 28, 2011, up from $174 million from the same period a year ago. Fourth-quarter sales at Lowe’s totaled $10.5 billion, a 3.1 percent increase from last year.
