Six individuals were honored with 2021 Horticultural Industries Leadership Awards at a reception July 11 at Cultivate in Columbus, Ohio. Greenhouse Management editor Matthew Grassi and Nursery Management managing editor Matt McClellan detailed the achievements of each winner, and then presented them with their award. In addition, four members of the 2020 HILA Class who were in attendance were honored. The 2020 HILA reception, of course, was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Horticultural Industries Leadership Awards (HILA), sponsored by Syngenta, is the only national awards program to honor leaders from the greenhouse and nursery industries.
This year’s HILA Class of 2021 includes:
Terri Bates, Bates Sons & Daughters, Lake Placid, Florida
Ryan Hop, Walters Gardens, Zeeland, Michigan
Ferenc Kiss, Cavano’s Perennials, Kingsville, Maryland
Jake Pierson, Pierson Nurseries, Biddeford, Maine
Matt Piscitelli, Olson’s Greenhouses, Raynham, Massachusetts
Lloyd Traven, Peace Tree Farm, Kintnersville, Pennsylvania
The 2021 class is the fifth group of leaders to be recognized with HILAs. View the previous winners and read their stories here.
Watch for the special section with the July print and digital issues of Greenhouse Management and Nursery Management, which includes full profiles of each winner. (Editor's note: Read the profiles here.)
Greenhouse Management, Nursery Management and Syngenta congratulate the exceptional leaders who have inspired their peers in the horticulture industry.
