Heritage Seedlings installs solar energy system

Heritage Seedlings, a propagator of perennials and deciduous woodies in Salem, Ore., has installed a 73.3 kW solar photovoltaic system. The solar-powered system, which was installed by Tanner Creek Energy, will lower the nursery’s non-renewable energy consumption and help to reduce its carbon footprint.
Tanner Creek Energy designed and installed a grid-tied solar energy system, consisting of over 300 SolarWorld PV panels, which will provide electricity in parallel with Pacific Power, the local utility service. The panel system is installed at Heritage’s growing operation in Stayton, Ore., where facilities include a 5-acre greenhouse range, 140 acres of field production and 500,000 cu. ft. of cold storage.
