GrowIt! partners with the National Wildlife Federation

The partnership seeks to promote the Garden for Wildlife Program during Garden for Wildlife month in May.

Growit! is partnering with the National Wildlife Federation to help promote the Garden for Wildlife Program during Garden for Wildlife Month once again this May.

The National Wildlife Federation's Garden for Wildlife program is celebrating 45 years of helping Americans create beautiful spaces that provide wildlife with food, water, cover, and a place to raise their young. Last year, thousands of people on GrowIt! helped spread the #Garden4Wildlife message, and this year we expect even more!

Our gardens often play a much bigger role than we know. When we see a squirrel, or a butterfly in our yard we often think of them as a visitor…when in reality we’re the real visitors. Our gardens are part of their ecosystems!

GrowIt! is the go-to mobile community for people searching for plant and gardening information. The community has helped hundreds of thousands of people identify plants, have questions answered, and find plants that will work in their specific locations. We seek to inspire, educate, and connect people in their local growing communities.

We’re working with the National Wildlife Federation to help show the GrowIt! community, and all of North America, how they can have a beautiful garden, while promoting a healthy ecosystem. Gardeners can create a full habitat in their garden by providing food, water, shelter, and a place to raise young.

Both plants and animals play an extremely important role in our local communities. Our goal is to inspire more people to think about wildlife when they are out in the garden. We’re asking people to capture pictures of critters and what they’re doing to promote habitats in their yards, and post them to GrowIt! with the hashtag #Garden4Wildlife to show others how they can also work to be better stewards of the environment.

Garden for Wildlife has helped nearly 7 million Americans create or protect an estimated 2.5 million acres of wildlife habitat and more than 375 U.S. mayors have taken the Mayors' Monarch Pledge, committing to create habitat for the monarch butterfly and pollinators.
