The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded WeedGuardPlus, a weed control mulch, BioPrefered designation. The USDA recognized it for having at least 100 percent biobased content and underwent third-party certification to assure the presence and amount of bio-based ingredients. WeedGuardPlus packaging now displays the certification label mark.
According to the USDA, the BioPreferred program is to promote the increase purchase and use of biobased products and is expected to promote economic development.
