LAKE CITY, Fla. -- G&S Nursery has hired industry veteran Frank Severino, formerly of Grandiflora Nursery in Gainesville, Fla. General manager Zack Kirsch said Severino will be head of purchasing for the nursery.
“Frank Severino is a well-known fixture in the Florida landscape nursery world,” Kirsch said, “we’re delighted he came to work for us.”
Severino worked for more than 17 years at Grandiflora, starting as a perennial plant puller and working his way up to sales and purchasing. When Grandiflora owner Alan Shapiro announced his retirement from the business, many allied businesses sought to employ the talent pool that made Grandiflora the successful nursery that it was. Severino was recruited by a number of companies, but he opted to come to G&S for a variety of reasons.
“I wanted to stay in the area because of my 3 kids,” he said, adding that “I’ve worked with Zack for many years, and I knew enough about the nursery here to believe it would be a good fit for my talents.”
Severino is the latest hire for G&S, which relocated earlier this year to a larger facility in Lake City, and has been branching out with expanded plant offerings and increasing its reach into new territories throughout the Southeast.
