According to an announcement from FNGLA President Shawn Thomas, FNGLA has made the decision to postpone its Annual Convention until June 11-12, 2021. Read his letter, below:
FNGLA has made the decision to postpone its Annual Convention until June 11-12, 2021 when we will celebrate this past year along with the next!
Due to the pandemic, the FNGLA Annual Convention dates already shifted from June 5-6 to August 14-15, 2020. It was understood attending this year’s FNGLA convention was not going to be feasible for everyone. Nonetheless, FNGLA’s hotel room block was just shy of being full! For those who registered and planned to attend, there was always great value in gathering together to share stories, compare notes and show care for one another.
Closely following the protocols and guidance from health officials and government authorities, FNGLA was working with the Embassy Suites hotel team in St. Augustine Beach to design and deliver a safe and responsible event.
However, we became increasingly concerned over the new spike in Florida’s COVID-19 cases. And, we knew a level of unease would get in the way of the FNGLA convention’s time-honored traditions of camaraderie, fun and lasting memories.Thank you for sticking with us, waiting so patiently for this final decision.
If you made hotel room reservations, the Embassy Suites will automatically cancel your reservations, so you don’t need to do anything. And, of course, there is absolutely no penalty. And, no action is needed on your part to receive refunds for your convention registrations.
FNGLA will automatically issue refunds to those of you who already paid your convention registrations.
Special salutes go to our amazing convention sponsors. Thanks to their continuing generosity and unwavering commitment to FNGLA, our convention registration costs are even more affordable for more of our members. And, a special tip of FNGLA’s cap to our Convention Committee members and staff who poured their heart and soul into building what would have been a really fabulous convention.
FNGLA’s volunteer leaders and staff all hope you; your families and employees are faring well and you carry within you a resolute determination that we will prevail through this pandemic.
Sincerely,
Shawn Thomas, President, 2019-20
