A fire has destroyed Theriault & Hachey Peat Moss’ production facility in Baie Sainte-Anne, New Brunswick, Canada. The cause of the fire is still unknown and being investigated by local and provincial fire marshals.
The fire alarm was triggered at 12:30 a.m. on March 23. The fire department responded quickly but the the fire spread too quickly through the T&H production plant.
There were no injuries, but the production plant has been deemed a complete loss. The company says it has a significant amount of raw material available now and does not expect its normal summer harvesting to be affected.
In a press release, the company said it has started the planning to rebuild. T&H also informed customers that it has finished inventory of peat and mix ready to be shipped and is making arrangements for production during the factory’s reconstruction. About 30 employees jobs were directly affected by the fire and T&H is working to find them alternate employment within the company.
Customers with questions may contact Jody Williston, T&H’s marketing manager, at jody@thpeat.com.
