Terra Nigra merges with DNA Green Group

Both companies look to benefit from new breeding techniques and sales networks.

Kudelstaart, January 12, 2015DNA Green Group announces today that it is incorporating Terra Nigra, a company specializing in breeding and propagation of gerberas and roses. DNA Green Group will expand its range of cut flowers by incorporating these activities.

 
Terra Nigra, previously owned by the Boerlage family, will join the DNA Green Group. “Now that we are a part of the DNA Green Group, we will have access to the newest techniques in breeding,” says Peter Boerlage, Managing Director of Terra Nigra. “Our customers will benefit from faster development of a complete range of strong varieties for our cut rose and cut gerbera assortments.”

DNA Green Group works to advance scientific breeding and selection techniques of flowers and plants. By combining these techniques with the rose and gerbera genetics from Terra Nigra, new, improved varieties of these products will be available sooner, according to a press release from DNA Green Group.
 
DNA Green Group specializes in breeding and development of cut flowers, potted plants, bedding plants and perennials. DNA Green Group was the result of the merger between Dümmen Group and Agribio Group in 2013. The turnover in 2014 was €170 million. The company employs more than 6,000 people worldwide.
 
Terra Nigra has their headquarters in Kudelstaart, the Netherlands. The company has specialized in breeding, marketing and propagation of gerberas and roses for more than 40 years. The products from Terra Nigra are sold worldwide. Terra Nigra's most important markets are Netherlands, USA, Kenya, Ecuador, Colombia, Japan, India and the south of Europe, and it has subsidiaries in USA, Ecuador and Kenya.
