David Hernandez returns to Hines Nurseries as general manager of its Fallbrook facility and as director of new products. Hernandez most recently was general manager of Altman Specialty Plants in Vista, Calif.
“This is major news for Hines and our customers,” said Steve Thigpen, CEO of Hines Nurseries. “David was a key manager at Hines for almost 30 years and is returning to continue our forward momentum. His strong management skills, nursery business knowledge and leadership assures our customers Hines will continue to deliver exciting products, on-time delivery and attentive customer service.”
Hernandez gained valuable experience at Altman’s developing supply plant programs and effective POP, training sales reps and creating a nationwide distribution system to large retailers, including Wal-Mart, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Target and supermarkets. He also coordinated the expansion of the Lake Mathews facility, including managing greenhouses and expanding the propagation of key new varieties.
