Dan Speer, 85, died April 19, 2010, at home in Scottsdale, Ariz. He founded Speer & Sons Nursery in 1948 in Fairview, Ore. Through the years he helped grow the business to a 500-acre nursery in Woodburn. The nursery grows flowering and shade trees. A memorial service is slated for 1 p.m., May 8, in St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 8818 S.W. Miley Road, Wilsonville, Ore. Memorials may be sent to the Oregon Association of Nurseries in Wilsonville. He’s survived by his wife of 13 years, Judy Speer; sons, Michael and Patrick; daughter, Danni Marie Gorman; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
