CLERMONT, Fla. -- Cherry Lake Tree Farm and Florida Urban Forestry Council have teamed up to bring an educational program into South Lake County Elementary Schools focusing on teaching kids about plant biology and getting them to appreciate the value of trees. The "Trail of Trees" event took place earlier this month in four local elementary schools with attendance of 300-500 children in each school to a presentation by nationally-recognized speaker Tim Womick. Chloe Gentry, marketing director for Cherry Lake Tree Farm, says "the program will touch 1,200-2,000 school children who will in turn bring the message home to their families ... the impact of this program will be exponential."
Part of the program also includes a donated tree from Cherry Lake Tree Farm for each school to plant on their campus in order to keep the discussion alive throughout the year.
