Four new rose introductions from Weeks Roses are being produced at Briggs Tree Company Inc. just in time for spring planting. The newly introduced 'Ch Ching', 'Easy Does It', 'Drop Dead Red' (pictured) and 'Over the Moon' are rose species carefully selected and sent to Briggs by Weeks Roses.
Briggs is a grower direct, wholesale nursery in Vista, Calif., that offers delivery across the United States. These new varieties are ready for planting and will begin blooming in March. There will be roses available at Briggs in containers well into spring, however, now is the time to shop for the broadest selection. The demand is high in the landscape market, and Briggs is providing these species in finished sizes to accommodate its specified customer base of landscape contractors and architects.
'Ch Ching', a new hybrid rose variety propagated by Weeks Roses, is available in a finished 5-gallon size. The new variety is a lasting clear yellow Grandiflora with a medium-tall plant habit and an upright, bushy growth habit. The large 5-inch-diameter bud form is very long, pointed & elegant anchored to a long, red stem with deep green foliage. This plant flowers very quickly and is great for an accent plant or foundation planting, is naturally drought-tolerant, hardy, has an excellent disease resistance, and has a strong sweet spice and fruit smell.
“We are thrilled that Briggs decided to produce these new varieties,” said Stuart Miller, Sales Representative from Weeks Roses. “Briggs is a quality grower and knows just how to grow and care for our roses. Their end product is always a hearty, healthy rose that will have longevity throughout the season and beyond.”
The new 'Easy Does It' rose is a distinguished All-American Rose Selection (AARS) 2010 winner. This rose is especially interesting because of its free-flowing swirling shades of sunset, which show up in large colorful clusters atop a rounded bushy plant. A Floribunda rose that is perfect in every climate, this plant is highly disease resistant and flowerful. 'Easy Does It' has a medium plant habit with a medium sized stem.
The newly introduced 'Drop Dead Red' is also a Floribunda with a medium height and medium stem length. Its color is dark red velvet and its growth habit is upright to slightly-rounded. The 'Drop Dead Red' has a double, formal flower form that is classically pointed and shapely with a mildly sweet fragrance.
'Over the Moon' is a hybrid tea rose with a medium-tall height and an upright slightly-spreading, bushy growth habit. It has a long stem length flanked by matte green foliage. 'Over the Moon' has an apricot color hue on a classical hybrid tea, double spiraled flower form. This rounded, bushy and vigorous plant has a moderate fruity smell and can be placed in the landscape where it can easily show off its luxurious lusciousness.
