The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (MAC-ISA) and Trees Virginia have established the Bonnie Appleton Memorial Fund in her honor. The fund, administered by the Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund (TREE Fund), will support a scholarship honoring Dr. Appleton’s contributions to the arboriculture industry and continuing her legacy of nurturing the next generation of green industry professionals.
MAC-ISA and Trees Virginia are seeking contributionsfrom individuals, organizations, and businesses to raise $100,000 to endow the Bonnie Appleton Memorial Scholarship. When fully endowed, it will support an annual, non-renewable scholarship award to an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in urban forestry, arboriculture, horticulture or nursery management at an accredited institution.
Since its establishment in 2013 MAC-ISA and Trees Virginia have raised almost half of the $100,000 needed to endow the fund.
Contributions can be made by credit card ($50 minimum) by clicking on "Donate Now" at www.treefund.org, or by check to the TREE Fund – (specify Appleton Fund on check). The mailing address is TREE Fund, 552 S. Washington St., Ste. 109, Naperville, IL 60540.
