BioWorks, a provider of integrated plant health solutions for the horticulture and specialty agriculture markets, has hired Bill Rietkerk as senior biological solutions adviser for horticulture.
In this role, Rietkerk will lead BioWorks’ continued expansion within California’s horticulture market.
Prior to joining BioWorks, Rietkerk built and implemented integrated pest management protocols for a variety of horticultural and agricultural crops, including strawberries, sweet peppers, cannabis, almonds, ipomoeas and gerberas.
Rietkerk has performed PCA responsibilities on 100 to 800-plus acres of sweet peppers, providing all chemical fungicide, pesticide and biological recommendations across four crops. Additionally, he participated in numerous R&D trials and product development and assessment projects in strawberries, sweet peppers, cut flowers, cannabis and almonds.
“Bill brings a deep knowledge and has extensive experience in horticulture that is essential to driving our growth strategy across North America,” said Troy Bettner, vice president of sales, marketing and technical services. “His expertise makes him exceptionally well-suited to collaborate with our channel partners and growers.”
Rietkerk attended California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, with coursework completed in IPM, plant health and entomology.
