Biltmore Estate begins rose trials

International trial winners will be announced in 2013

The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., is conducting an international rose trial and will release the winners as a line of Biltmore Garden Roses. The winners also will be planted in the estate’s rose garden.

Paul Zimmerman, owner of Paul Zimmerman Roses, approached the estate with the idea.

“When George Vanderbilt built the estate he did so with an idea of housing his art and furniture collection from around the world. An international rose trial means entries from all over the globe [will be submitted], and the Biltmore Rose
Garden is a perfect place to showcase these beauties,” he said.

The trials first awards are slated for spring 2013.
