Barberry Berberis thunbergii 'Maria'

Spring Meadow Nursery, through Proven Winners ColorChoice, is offering Berberis thunbergii ‘Maria,’ which is trademarked as Sunjoy gold pillar barberry. The plant was hybridized in Poland by Lucjan Kurowski.

It is the first upright golden barberry with red new growth. Habit is similar to Helmond Pillar. It is also burn resistant.

Plants reach 3-4 feet tall and have a moderate growth habit. They are hardy to USDA Hardiness Zone 4.
