Athens Select, Monrovia reveal new introductions

Athens Select unveiled five new varieties as part of the Southern Living Plant Collection. Mandevillas Vogue ‘Sophia’ and ‘Vivian;’ verbenas ‘Princess Blush’ and ‘Princess Dark Lavender;’ and pentas ‘Stars & Stripes’ were added to the collection. These new introductions provide spectacular color and exceptional heat and humidity tolerance, according to Allan Armitage, founder of Athens Select. Monrovia is introducing 40 new plants this year. Under the guidance of Nicholas Staddon, director of new plants, Monrovia’s emphasis is on plants that are “healthier, hardier and easier to care for,” Staddon said.
