ANLA lauds Schrader for introducing progressive legislation

Small Business Environmental Stewardship Assistance Act promotes green partnership

The American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA), representing more than 15,000 green industry businesses employing nearly 2 million individuals, commended Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-OR) for introducing H.R. 4509, the Small Business Environmental Stewardship Assistance Act of 2010.
This legislation recognizes the role of small businesses in creating jobs, promoting energy efficiency, providing environmental benefits and making retail and commercial areas more appealing by reauthorizing the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) National Small Business Tree Planting Program.
“The U.S. nursery and landscape industry stands ready to work alongside public and private sector partners to leverage resources so that local small businesses can work together to achieve very real returns on investments in green infrastructure,” said Bob Lyons, owner of Sunleaf Nursery, LLP in Madison, OH. “By partnering with local nurseries and landscape professionals, this investment will allow America’s small businesses to become more energy efficient, combat global climate change and develop greener retail and commercial areas while creating jobs at a time when new jobs are scarce.”
