Baptisia australis ‘Blue Mound’ PP# 25902

‘Blue Mound’ combines the heavier blooming of B. australis var. australis with the more uniform broad rounded habit and finer foliage of B. australis var. minor. The dusty violet-blue flowers are borne above the blue-green foliage from late May into mid-June in USDA Zone 5. This selection forms a season-long, perfectly uniform mound that you will think was sheared. A 10-year-old plant measured 43 inches tall x 60 inches wide. Hardy to USDA Zones 4b to 7.

Baptisia ‘Mojito’ PP#25987

Selected for its heavy flower production, the light lemon-colored flowers are well displayed against the lime-green foliage. ‘Mojito’ comes into peak bloom in mid- to late May, somewhat ahead of most other baptisia in Zone 5. The vase-shaped habit in spring gives way to a more rounded habit during the remainder of the growing season. A six-year-old plant measured 42 inches tall x 48 inches wide. Hardy to USDA Zones 5 to 7.

Baptisia ‘Royal Purple’ PP#25508

This complex hybrid between Baptisia australis, B. leucophaea, and B. sphaerocarpa was selected for its incredibly saturated dark violet-purple flowers on a plant that otherwise resembles B. australis. Peak bloom is in early June in USDA Zone 5. Flowers give way to a vigorous plant with attractive blue-green foliage. A six-year-old plant measured 45 inches tall x 56 inches wide. Hardy to Zones 4 to 7.

Phlox ‘Pink Parasol’ PPAF

Selected primarily for its display of vibrant violet-pink flowers, it has proven to be exceptionally vigorous, hardy, and uniform growing. At peak bloom, the plants are covered 90 to 100 percent with flowers. The ¾-inch-wide flowers are produced for three to four weeks, commencing in late April in USDA Zone 5. Five-year-old plants measured 21 inches wide and 7 inches tall at peak bloom. Hardy to USDA Zones 4 to 8.

Phlox ‘Running With Scissors’ PPAF

This is a super-charged moss phlox selected for flower power, vigor, and durability. At peak bloom, plants are covered 90 to 100 percent with flowers. The 1-inch-wide, light to medium-violet flowers—large for a moss phlox—are produced for four to six weeks in spring commencing in mid- to late April in USDA Zone 5. Four-year-old plants were 38 inches wide and 7 inches tall with lush dark green foliage all summer. Hardy to USDA Zones 4 to 8.
