Per the the Plant California Alliance, the University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources will offer an ABCs of horticulture class, which is designed for entry level growers and those with little or no formal training in horticulture. The class has two sessions, one in English and one in Spanish. The English session takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 12, and the Spanish session takes place on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Both sessions will start at 7:45 a.m.
The course will focus on basic principles of plant growth, and applicants will learn why growers do the things they do, and how plants “work.” The workshop will consist of three sections:
- Plant Structures and Functions
- Plant Physiology
- Cultural and Environmental Effects on Plant Growth
Registration is $50 per person and includes lunch and refreshments. Applicants may register online here. Mail or fax-in registration by check information can be found here. For the latter option, please make checks payable to UC Regents.
